How to update Soundbar software

Firmware is the software built into your soundbar that helps it operate correctly. Keeping it up to date helps fix issues and provide improvements or new features.

There are two ways of updating your soundbar software: directly using your SmartThings app or using a USB drive.

Check for and install any firmware updates directly through the SmartThings app

 

 

Download the firmware for your soundbar model from Samsung Support and install it manually using a USB drive

What you need

1 Ensure the Soundbar/Music Frame/Music Studio is connected to Wi-Fi using SmartThings
2 Open the SmartThings app on your phone > Select Soundbar, Music Frame or Music Studio to access the control menu
3 Tap the 3 vertical dots in the top-right corner of the screen
4 Go to Information to check for available firmware updates. If an update is available, select ‘Update Device’

1 To update the Soundbar/Music Frame/Music Studio firmware, visit the user manuals and downloads page. You can either select your product type and then search for your soundbar, or select ENTER MODEL NUMBER to access the support page for your specific soundbar model

2 If available, download and review the ‘Upgrade guide’ which will show you the exact steps for updating the firmware

3 Compare the version on the website with the one in SmartThings and only proceed if the version number on the website is higher than the one they already have
4 On the support page, find the firmware file for your Soundbar, Music Frame or Music Studio under Manuals & Downloads
5 Tick the latest version of Firmware, select Download next to the firmware version to download the compressed file
6 Once the file has downloaded, locate and open the file
7 Open the folders until you find the files required for the update.
8 Copy or move the files to the USB drive
9 Once the files have been copied on to the USB, make sure they are not placed in a folder. Placing them in a folder may make it harder for the sound device to complete the update

Please note: Ensure your USB drive has enough space for the update files.

10 Connect the USB drive to the USB port of the Sound Device while it is off

11 Turn your Soundbar, Music Frame or Music Studio on using the remote, or press Power on the sound device. When the power is on, select the USB source, using the Source button
12 The update will start on your Soundbar, Music Frame or Music Studio, the displays will flash ‘UPDATE,’ or the LEDs will light up in sequence during the update, depending on your model
13 Once the update is complete, the Soundbar, Music Frame or Music Studio will turn off and reboot
