How to Change Your Samsung Account Country or Region
Changing the country or region linked to your Samsung account affects service availability, purchase history visibility, and device connectivity. Follow these steps to update your account settings using a computer or mobile browser.
1. Why Change Your Samsung Account Country or Region?
Updating your Samsung account's country or region ensures you receive region-specific services, access localized content, and align your account with your current location. This change impacts services like Samsung Pay, Galaxy Store, and SmartThings.
2. How to Change Your Samsung Account Country or Region
Currently, you cannot change your Samsung account's country or region directly through the Samsung Members app. Use a web browser instead.
3. Changing Your Country or Region via Computer
- Visit account.samsung.com and log in.
- Click on Profile.
- Scroll down and select Edit personal information.
- Click on Country or region.
- Select your desired region and country, then click Change.
- Review the on-screen information, check the box, and confirm the change.
4. Changing Your Country or Region via Mobile Browser
Since the Samsung app doesn't support this feature yet, open your phone's browser and follow the same steps as above. A future update expected in December 2023 will enable this functionality within the app.
5. What Happens After Changing Your Country or Region?
Once you update your Samsung account's country or region, your connected devices will automatically sign out. You'll need to sign in again to restore access to services like Samsung Cloud and Find My Mobile.
6. Supported Samsung Galaxy Devices
All Samsung Galaxy devices, including Galaxy S24, Galaxy Z Fold, Galaxy Z Flip, and Galaxy A series, are compatible with this process. The change applies to your Samsung account, not individual devices.
7. Cases That Restrict Changing Country or Region
Certain conditions prevent changes to your Samsung account's country or region. These include:
- A 180-day waiting period before reverting or changing again.
- Family group and child accounts cannot modify their region.
- Some services like SmartThings may become unavailable.
- Purchase history displays only for the current region.
- Galaxy Store seller accounts require a customer center request.
- European accounts may face GDPR-related restrictions.
- Phone number-only accounts cannot change regions.
- Accounts under a country's minimum age limit cannot change regions.
- Chinese accounts lack country change access, and non-China accounts cannot switch to China.
8. Additional Things to Check
Before making changes, ensure your Samsung account is fully verified and your email address is up to date. Also, back up important data to avoid losing access during the transition.
